William Shatner, 95, Reveals He and His Daughter Were Diagnosed With Stage 4 Cancer.

Posted on July 23, 2026 By admin

William Shatner and his daughter Melanie Shatner Gretsch revealed they were both battling Stage 4 cancer at the same time—one of the hardest moments of their lives.

Melanie discovered a lump that turned out to be aggressive HER2-positive breast cancer. She underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and a double mastectomy during her 18-month treatment.

While she was recovering, Shatner found a lump on his cheek. Doctors later diagnosed him with Stage 4 melanoma that had spread to his lungs and brain.

Despite their diagnoses, the father and daughter supported each other through their battles. Shatner continued working while receiving treatment, and he encouraged Melanie throughout her recovery.

After years of treatment, both were declared cancer-free in late 2024.

Now 95, Shatner says he appreciates life more than ever and continues staying active, proving that hope and strength can carry people through even the darkest moments.
