Kevin froze as the truth came out.
The lawyer explained that Robert had sold the house before his death and legally transferred ownership.
“So who owns it?” Kevin asked desperately.
Martha looked at the documents and smiled.
“I do.”
Her husband had secretly made sure she would always have a home and never depend on anyone.
Kevin’s confidence disappeared. The house he thought he owned was never his.
But Robert had left him an inheritance — with one condition.
He couldn’t access it until he turned 40, because his father wanted him to learn responsibility.
Martha looked at her son and gave him one final lesson:
“Resentment will only hold you back. Use what your father gave you to build a better life.”
As Kevin and Jessica left, Martha stepped back into her home, knowing she was not a burden.
She was protected by the love and wisdom of the man she lost.
