While I was away on a short work trip, I checked the baby monitor expecting to see my son asleep.
Instead, I saw a woman I had never met standing in his room.
She tucked him in, kissed his forehead, and acted like she belonged there.
I immediately called my husband Logan.
“Who is with Ben?” I asked.
The silence on the phone told me something was wrong.
Then he hung up.
My brother rushed to our house and discovered the truth: the woman wasn’t a babysitter. She was Logan’s affair partner.
And the worst part?
She told him:
“When you divorce your wife, Ben will be my son too.”
I came home the next morning and ended the marriage.
I fought for custody—not to punish Logan, but because I could no longer trust his choices as a father.
Months later, I found the woman online. I made one appointment, sat across from her, and showed her the photo from the baby monitor.
Her face went pale.
I simply said:
“Ben is doing great. And so am I.”
Then I walked away.
For the first time in years, I felt in control of my own life.
