Australian Golf Rising Star Jessica Bang Dies at 18 After Brain Hemorrhage in Thailand
Australian golfer Jessica Bang, who was preparing to begin her rookie professional season, has died at just 18 years old after suffering a brain hemorrhage in Thailand.
Bang suddenly collapsed in Bangkok on August 1 while preparing for the KLPGA Tour’s International Qualifying Tournament. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors performed emergency brain surgery and placed her on life support.
Her family later launched a fundraiser to help cover her medical treatment and the cost of bringing her home to Australia.
Bang died at 7:20 a.m. local time on Thursday, according to her family.
The WPGA Tour of Australasia confirmed her death and offered condolences to her loved ones.
Her golf career had been showing enormous promise. In February 2026, Bang won the Ford Women’s NSW Regional Qualifying tournament at Moss Vale, reportedly in only her fifth professional start.
She had been preparing for what was expected to be an exciting future in professional golf.
Instead, her life was tragically cut short at just 18.
