Robert Redford, the legendary Hollywood actor, director, and founder of the Sundance Institute, has died at 89.
Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home in Sundance, Utah, surrounded by loved ones, according to his representative Cindi Berger.
Born in 1936 in Santa Monica, California, Redford became one of Hollywood’s biggest stars through iconic films including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, The Way We Were, All the President’s Men, and Out of Africa.
He was also an acclaimed filmmaker, winning the Academy Award for Best Director for Ordinary People in 1980.
Beyond Hollywood, Redford founded the Sundance Institute in 1981 and became a passionate advocate for independent film, environmental causes, and social issues.
His career spanned more than six decades, leaving an unforgettable mark on cinema.
