Former NFL Guard Jordan Devey Dies at 38
Former NFL guard Jordan Devey has died at the age of 38. His wife, Linsey, announced his death Thursday night, while a GoFundMe created for the family stated that he died by suicide.
Devey played for the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills. He was remembered as a devoted husband, father of four, coach, mentor and valued member of the Eagle, Idaho, community.
Earlier this year, Devey became offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Eagle High School. He had gone undrafted from Memphis in 2013 and spent several seasons in the NFL, including with the Patriots during their 2014 Super Bowl-winning season.
His family said they believe Devey may have been suffering from CTE, a brain disease associated with repeated head injuries, though it cannot be confirmed.
His wife shared an emotional tribute, writing that Devey was “our hero” and that their four children carry his eyes, freckles and compassion.
A GoFundMe for the family has raised more than $81,000 toward a $200,000 goal to help with financial and medical expenses.
