A Kentucky family is mourning the heartbreaking death of 10-month-old Scottie Gwyn Crowell after she was accidentally left inside a hot car for about eight hours.
Scottie had been in the care of her grandmother, Dr. Stacey Fazenbaker, who was supposed to drop her off at daycare before going to work. But Scottie never arrived.
Later that afternoon, her father came to pick her up and learned she had never been at daycare. The family then discovered she was still strapped into her car seat inside the vehicle parked outside the medical clinic.
Temperatures in Madisonville reached 95°F that day, while the car reportedly reached about 115°F.
Police and coworkers attempted lifesaving measures, but it was too late.
No charges have been filed against Fazenbaker so far, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Scottie’s family remembered her with love, with her aunt writing: “We love you so much, our sweet baby girl.”
