A birthday celebration ended in tragedy on the night of August 16, when a mother and her two daughters were killed in a fiery highway crash in California.
Vanessa Sue Wetmore, 51, and her daughters Kylie, 20, and Kloie, 16, had attended a concert in Fresno to celebrate Kloie’s upcoming 17th birthday.
While driving home on Highway 99 near Bakersfield shortly after midnight, their vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver traveling north in the southbound lanes.
Their car caught fire, and all three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
Their son and brother, Seth, who was not with them that night, was preparing to celebrate his 16th birthday on August 20—the same day Kloie would have turned 17.
A GoFundMe has been created to help with funeral expenses and support Seth as he faces life without his mother and sisters.
They left for a birthday celebration and never made it home.
