Beloved Country Singer Frankie Miller Dies at 95
Frankie Miller, the legendary country singer and songwriter known for his gravelly voice and classic hit “Blackland Farmer,” has died at 95.
Miller passed away from natural causes at his home on Saturday, according to Heart of Texas Records president Tracy Pitcox.
Born in Victoria, Texas, in 1930, Miller began performing as a teenager before serving in the Korean War, where he earned a Bronze Star.
His career took off in 1959 with “Blackland Farmer,” which reached the Top 5 on the country charts and became his signature song. He later recorded hits including “Family Man” and “A Little South of Memphis.”
Miller performed alongside country legends such as Johnny Cash, George Jones, Patsy Cline, Buck Owens and Willie Nelson. Remarkably, he continued making music well into his 90s and even performed with Willie Nelson at Luck Reunion.
His final album, a tribute to George Jones, was released in 2020.
Miller is survived by his daughters, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
His death marks the passing of a beloved voice from one of country music’s most memorable eras.
