Caleb Schwab was only 10 years old when a family day at a Kansas water park turned into an unimaginable tragedy. 💔
On August 7, 2016, Caleb rode Verrückt at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Kansas City, one of the world’s tallest waterslides at nearly 170 feet high.
Moments after the raft came down, witnesses realized something had gone terribly wrong. Caleb suffered a fatal neck injury, while the two women riding with him survived with minor injuries.
His older brother Nathan was the one who returned to their parents and told them something had happened to Caleb.
Just moments earlier, Caleb’s father had told him, “Brothers stick together.”
Caleb replied, “I know, Dad.”
Those were the last words his father ever heard from his son.
The tragedy led to a major investigation. Verrückt was permanently closed and later dismantled, while legal action and settlements followed.
But nothing could bring Caleb back.
His family remembered him as a loving child, a hugger, and a boy who adored his family, sports and faith.
He was only 10, with his entire life ahead of him.
