In 2010, a contestant on Wheel of Fortune shocked Pat Sajak and the audience by solving a nearly impossible puzzle—with only one letter revealed.
The board was filled with blank words, yet Caitlin Burke confidently said she could solve it.
And somehow, she did.
When Sajak asked how she figured it out, Burke simply joked:
“I had a good feeling about it.”
But it wasn’t just luck.
Burke later explained that she broke the puzzle into smaller “chunks.” The apostrophe narrowed the first word to either “I’ve” or “I’ll.” A one-letter word could only be “A” or “I.”
From there, she realized the phrase had to be “I’ve got a…” and the rest suddenly became clear.
What looked impossible to everyone watching was actually a brilliant use of patterns and logic.
Even years later, this remains one of Wheel of Fortune’s most incredible solves.
