Peter Hanson was flying from Boston to Los Angeles with his wife, Sue, and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Christine.
It was Christine’s first airplane ride.
At 8:52 a.m. on September 11, 2001, Peter called his father.
“Dad, we’ve been hijacked.”
He explained that the cockpit had been taken over and a flight attendant had been stabbed.
Peter called again minutes later.
“Don’t worry, Dad,” he said. “If it happens, it will be very fast.”
Then the call suddenly became terrifying.
“Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God…”
A woman screamed.
The call ended.
Minutes later, Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
Peter, Sue, and little Christine were killed.
Christine became the youngest victim of the attacks.
Her family remembers her not only for the tragedy, but as a joyful little girl who loved playgrounds, helping her father, and decorating things with stickers.
Today, their names remain together at the September 11 Memorial.
