NHL LEGEND CLAUDE LEMIEUX DIES AT 60 — HOCKEY WORLD IN MOURNING
Former NHL star Claude Lemieux, a four-time Stanley Cup champion, has died at the age of 60, according to authorities.
Lemieux was found dead Thursday morning at his family’s business in Florida. His family later gathered to mourn the hockey legend.
Lemieux spent 20 seasons in the NHL, playing for teams including the Canadiens, Devils and Avalanche.
He won the Stanley Cup four times — with Montreal in 1986 and New Jersey in 1995, 2000 and 2003. He also won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 1995.
Known for his intense competitive style, Lemieux finished his career with 379 goals and 786 points in 1,215 regular-season games.
His son, NHL player Brendan Lemieux, shared a heartbreaking tribute:
“I love you dad! My son’s favorite person is going to watch from above for a while. We will see you.”
