Kayla Saager-Beckley Dies Unexpectedly at 30
The college sports community is mourning the sudden loss of Kayla Saager-Beckley, a former Binghamton University soccer star who died unexpectedly at just 30 years old.
Kayla, a Long Island native, was married to Tulsa football assistant coach John Beckley and was pregnant with their daughter, Sawyer.
According to Tulsa head coach Tre Lamb, Kayla had been working out shortly before she was found unresponsive around 7 a.m. Her cause of death has not been publicly announced.
A standout soccer player, Kayla scored 22 goals at Binghamton, served as captain, earned two all-region honors, and was named the 2017 America East Striker of the Year.
After college, she played professionally in the Czech Republic before becoming a coach and later working in college soccer scouting and recruiting.
The Tulsa football team held a memorial in her honor, with players also planning to wear special helmet stickers during their next game.
Kayla will be remembered for her achievements in soccer, her dedication to coaching, and her love for her family.
