Ben Saunders, the first-ever winner of The Voice of Holland, has died at 43.
Saunders was found dead on Sept. 15 at Rijkerswoerdse Plassen, a recreational lake near Arnhem, Netherlands, according to Dutch media. Police recovered his body around 1:20 p.m. and said there were no signs of foul play.
His brother, Dean Saunders, paid tribute on social media, writing that Ben would remain in his heart forever.
Ben rose to fame after winning the first season of The Voice of Holland in 2011. The show later became the original format behind the worldwide Voice franchise, inspiring more than 150 adaptations.
The cause of death has not been announced. Saunders is survived by his family, who have asked for privacy and respect during this difficult time.
