My Husband Made Me Cook for 30 Guests With a Broken Leg—Then His Mother Took Action
Three weeks before my husband Donald’s 40th birthday, I broke my leg. The doctor told me to rest, but Donald didn’t seem to care.
He had invited 30 guests to a pool party and expected me to prepare all the food and drinks.
When I suggested catering, he refused.
“Catering is too expensive. You can sit down and cook, can’t you?”
So at 4 a.m. on his birthday, I started cooking. Using my crutches, I spent hours preparing appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and drinks while Donald enjoyed himself by the pool.
Then his mother walked into the kitchen.
She was shocked to find me working with a broken leg. When I explained that Donald had refused to pay for catering, she quietly walked away.
Minutes later, Donald started shouting by the pool.
I went outside on my crutches and saw everyone staring at him.
Donald was red with embarrassment and soon began to cry.
His mother had made sure he paid for the way he treated me.
That was the day I learned karma can arrive faster than you expect.
