‘Phantom of the Paradise’ Star Dies at 77 After Decades in Hollywood

Veteran actor, screenwriter and songwriter Gerrit Graham has died at 77.

Known for his memorable role as Beef in Phantom of the Paradise and appearances in Brian De Palma films, Graham built a career spanning movies, television and music. He also appeared in Seinfeld, The Wonder Years and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

Beyond acting, Graham co-wrote the Grateful Dead song “Victim or the Crime” with Bob Weir.

He is survived by his two sons and four grandchildren.
