I arrived at my son Jacob’s new school, hoping his first day had gone well. Instead, his teacher, Ms. Emily, told me he had struggled with lessons and argued with classmates. She even suggested he might not be a good fit for the school.
On the drive home, Jacob finally admitted, “It was scary, Mom. Nobody talked to me. I miss my old friends. Can we go back?”

When Ms. Emily snapped at him to be quiet, I immediately defended my son.
Then Mark walked into the room and called the teacher by name.
“Emily? What’s going on?”
Suddenly, everything made sense. The teacher accusing my son was dating my ex-husband.
I looked directly at her and said, “I believe you’re trying to force my son out of this school because of your relationship with Mark.”
The room fell silent.
Mark stared at Emily. “Is that true?”
For a moment, she looked ready to deny everything—but then her face turned red…
