Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson’s love story began on Broadway in 1993 during Anna Christie, where their chemistry was undeniable—even though Richardson was married at the time. After her marriage ended, the couple wed in 1994 and had two sons.
Their bond was strong from the start, with Richardson once saying she wasn’t bothered by Neeson’s reputation as a ladies’ man: “I’m pleased that women fall in love with him because I know why.”
They welcomed their first son in 1995 and a second soon after, embracing family life. But tragedy struck in 2009 when Richardson suffered a fatal head injury while skiing. Neeson honored their pact by removing her from life support after loved ones said goodbye.
Their son, Micheál, later pursued acting, appearing in films like Anchorman 2 and Vox Lux. In tribute to his mother, he changed his surname to Richardson—something Neeson called “a lovely gesture” that touched the family deeply.
Micheál has since acted alongside his father in Cold Pursuit and Made in Italy, continuing both his parents’ legacy on screen and keeping his mother’s memory alive
