Mary Trump, the niece of former President Donald Trump and a long-time critic, has issued a stark warning about the U.S. future if her uncle remains in power. Mary, author of Too Much and Never Enough, called the current political climate “uniquely dangerous” after Trump’s return to the Oval Office.
In an interview with The Telegraph, she expressed concern that Trump may aim to stay in power indefinitely, potentially defying the Constitution’s two-term limit. “It’s not about whether he’ll run again,” she said. “It’s about whether he’ll leave. He may just declare himself president for life.”
Trump has hinted at exploiting legal “loopholes” to extend his presidency, though he claims not to believe in using them. Still, rumors of a potential third-term bid have sparked alarm. Mary questioned how the country could remove a president who refuses to leave, warning, “We don’t know, because we’ve never had this problem.”
She concluded that Trump isn’t an outlier, but rather the culmination of decades of Republican decline: “America is a deeply broken country… Donald is the logical conclusion to the last 40 years.”
