Paul Rosolie, a conservationist and Amazon explorer, attempted a shocking stunt to raise awareness about rainforest destruction: he planned to be eaten alive by an anaconda.
Wearing a specially designed suit with oxygen and cameras, Rosolie approached and provoked the snake, which bit him and began constricting. As the pressure mounted and his breathing worsened, he called for help before being swallowed. His team quickly intervened and extracted him safely.
The stunt, filmed for a Discovery Channel documentary, was extreme but effective in drawing attention to the urgent threats facing the Amazon. Rosolie said he was driven by frustration over the rainforest’s destruction and the world’s indifference, hoping the dramatic act would make people care.
