Can you guess the iconic actor who went from living in a $150-a-month New York flophouse to owning a peaceful farm with his family?
Kevin Bacon’s journey from humble beginnings to Hollywood fame is remarkable. As a kid, he loved acting, often dressing up in costumes after trips to the movies. His creative spark was fueled by a box of old clothes his mom saved for him.
In 1976, Bacon moved from Philadelphia to NYC to pursue acting. He crashed on his sister’s couch before finding a cheap shared artist’s space through the Village Voice. He lived with a classical pianist for four years, recalling the calming sound of late-night music. He studied at the Circle in the Square Theater School and said he was chasing “the real thing.”
Driven by a passion for the arts, Bacon went on to star in iconic films like Footloose, The Woodsman, and Beauty Shop, becoming a household name and Golden Globe winner.
Today, he lives a very different life with his wife, actress Kyra Sedgwick, on a 40-acre farm in Sharon, Connecticut. They raise goats, pigs, alpacas, and miniature horses, and enjoy gardening. Bacon says animals bring him peace — and he no longer eats goat or pig meat.
The couple shares their farm life on social media, with Sedgwick going viral for her goat videos. “People say, ‘We love you singing with the goats.’ And we’re like, ‘Great… but have you seen our work?’” she joked.
From pizza slices in NYC to homegrown veggies and farm animals — Kevin Bacon’s transformation is one for the books.
