Trump Declared in “Excellent Health” — But Critics Raise Concerns
President Trump, now 78, was declared in “excellent health” following an April 2025 medical exam that involved 14 specialists, including a neurological screening. Dr. Sean Barbabella reported strong cardiac, pulmonary, and cognitive function, noting Trump’s improved cholesterol and 25-pound weight loss. The exam also cited minor sun damage and scarring from the 2024 assassination attempt but no major health concerns.
However, critics like Rick Wilson, co-founder of the Lincoln Project, aren’t convinced. In an interview with Times Radio, Wilson warned of signs of mental decline, pointing to Trump’s “incoherence,” verbal slips, and behavioral changes. He questioned whether Trump could complete another term, suggesting cognitive decline may be setting in — something cognitive tests might miss.
Veteran journalist Timothy L. O’Brien echoed those concerns on MSNBC, saying Trump fears the same cognitive issues that affected his father. He added that Trump’s push for a third term reflects self-preservation more than policy ambition.
Trump’s 2025 report marked a shift from his past vague health updates, offering more detail amid rising scrutiny. Yet, no new cognitive test results beyond his 2018 screening have been released. Critics argue the real issue isn’t test results — it’s what the public sees.
