Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson’s love story began on Broadway in 1993 during Anna Christie, where their on-stage chemistry sparked a real connection—despite Richardson being married at the time. After her marriage ended, the two wed in 1994 and had two sons.
Their bond was strong from the start, with Richardson later saying she wasn’t bothered by Neeson’s ladies’ man image: “I’m pleased that women fall in love with him because I know why.”
They welcomed sons in 1995 and 1996, and their love only deepened—until tragedy struck in 2009 when Richardson suffered a fatal head injury while skiing. Neeson, honoring a pact they’d made, removed her from life support after loved ones said their goodbyes.
Their eldest son, Micheál, pursued acting like his mother and later changed his surname to Richardson in her honor. Neeson called it “a lovely gesture” that touched Natasha’s family deeply.
Today, Micheál carries on her legacy both in name and through performances alongside his father, including in Cold Pursuit and Made in Italy.
