Woman finds shaking dog by the river, looks closer at its throat and realizes the horrific truth

Posted on July 6, 2025 By admin

While driving near a river by her home in Lithuania, Audra Petraškienė spotted a soaked, trembling dog by the roadside. She stopped to help — and discovered a horrifying sight: a heavy metal object tied around the dog’s neck, likely intended to drown it.

The dog had somehow escaped the river and made it to land. Audra was heartbroken but quickly acted. She took the dog home, removed the 13-pound weight, dried him off, and got him veterinary care. Luckily, he had no serious injuries.

Audra reported the incident to police. Her daughter Andra called the dog “a real fighter” and praised her mother’s love for animals.

The dog’s owner was eventually identified, but the motive behind the cruel act remains unclear. Some believe it was a revenge attack by a neighbor. Until things are settled, the dog is safe in a shelter — thanks to Audra’s quick and compassionate response.
