After my mother passed away from cancer when I was 14, my Aunt Cheryl quickly took me in. At first, it seemed like a blessing, but soon I realized she had ulterior motives. Cheryl’s family lived in luxury while I was relegated to a dusty attic with only leftovers to eat. I noticed Cheryl and her husband were using my late mother’s trust fund, intended for my future, to fund their extravagant lifestyle.
On my 16th birthday, I received no recognition from Cheryl, who instead lavished gifts on her own children. That afternoon, a woman named Olivia arrived, revealing she had worked with my mother before her death. She told me my mother had left me a trust fund but was worried Cheryl would misuse it, which she had been doing. Cheryl had been spending my money on vacations, cars, and private school for her kids, while I suffered in silence.
The truth came to light when Olivia confronted Cheryl with bank records. Cheryl tried to deny everything, but Olivia’s evidence was irrefutable. Soon after, legal action was taken, and Cheryl’s world crumbled. I was moved to a foster home where I finally felt safe and loved.
On my 18th birthday, Olivia handed me the remaining funds from my trust. For the first time in years, I felt free, knowing my future was secure and that my mother would be proud. I was finally free from Cheryl’s grasp, and karma had come for her greed.
