Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have focused on raising their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, choosing a private life in the U.S. after leaving the Royal Family. Archie was born while they were still working royals, but Lilibet arrived over a year after their exit.
Though Archie and Lilibet likely know little of their parents’ royal rift, it may impact their relationships with royal cousins, which remain distant.
The couple had a miscarriage before Lilibet’s birth, which made the arrival of their daughter all the more emotional. Despite controversy over naming her after Queen Elizabeth’s nickname “Lilibet,” the couple viewed it as a tribute.
When Archie was born in 2019, Harry and Meghan broke royal tradition, choosing privacy over publicity, including opting for The Portland Hospital and avoiding the customary public baby photo. Harry later revealed humorous and emotional details from Archie’s birth in his memoir Spare, including using laughing gas meant for Meghan.
Since settling in California, Meghan has balanced motherhood with launching her lifestyle brand. She is grateful for her family but feels bittersweet about how quickly her children are growing up.
Despite speculation, the couple is unlikely to have a third child. Both Harry and Meghan have publicly stated that two children is their limit, with Harry citing environmental reasons and Meghan calling their family of four complete.
