The arrival of a baby is always special, but one Tennessee family’s story has gone viral after their newborn, Cash Jamal Buckman, sparked online speculation due to his appearance.
Rachel, a cashier at Celina 52 Truck Stop, and her white fiancé, Paul Buckman, welcomed Cash on February 17, 2024. However, social media users noted that Cash appeared to be Black, prompting questions about his paternity.
In response, the truck stop initially defended the couple, citing Rachel’s African American ancestry and suggesting Cash might have jaundice. Rachel later posted her DNA results online, insisting Paul was the father.
Despite this, jokes and skepticism persisted. Some even called for DNA testing, and the truck stop eventually announced that both polygraph and DNA tests would be conducted.
On March 24, Celina 52 Truck Stop released a final statement: DNA results confirmed Paul is not the biological father. Rachel claimed the child was conceived with her ex in 2021 and bizarrely suggested COVID “activated” dormant DNA in 2023.
Despite everything, Paul chose to stay with Rachel and raise Cash as his own. Rachel later resigned from her job, receiving $100 in severance.
As the truck stop put it: “Paul, you are NOT the father, but you ARE the dad.”
