Posted on August 20, 2025 By admin

Two officers were fatally shot over the weekend while responding to a domestic violence call in Tremonton, Utah.

According to the Brigham City Police, the suspect was taken into custody on August 17. Sgt. Lee Sorensen and Officer Eric Estrada, identified by the Tremonton Garland Police Department, were killed during the incident.

The violence began after multiple 911 hang-up calls. One officer arrived at the residence and was speaking to a resident when the suspect emerged and opened fire. A second officer who later arrived was also shot.

A Box Elder County deputy was injured after the suspect fired into his vehicle, also hitting his K-9. Both are recovering in fair condition.

Bystanders persuaded the suspect to surrender. He has been charged with capital murder, attempted murder, and assault.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox called it “a tragic night,” honoring the fallen officers for their service.

Rest in peace, Sgt. Lee Sorensen and Officer Eric Estrada.
