Caprio became a viral sensation for turning courtroom moments into acts of compassion, often granting second chances instead of punishment. Leaders across Rhode Island mourned his loss, praising his humanity and lasting impact.
Born in Providence in 1936 to Italian-American parents, Caprio’s journey began with humble roots — shining shoes and delivering newspapers — and led to a nearly 40-year career in public service. His show reached billions, and his charitable work, including the Filomena Fund, helped many in need.
