Hollywood may be full of fleeting romances, but Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have defied the odds. Together for over 40 years, their bond remains strong—despite never getting married. Goldie says their choice not to wed is what helps keep their relationship healthy and free.
The two met in 1966 filming The One and Only, Genuine Original Family Band, but didn’t connect romantically until 1983 while shooting Swing Shift. Their first date ended with them breaking into Hawn’s new home—police and all. From then on, they were inseparable.
Goldie had two children, Oliver and Kate Hudson, from a previous marriage, and she recalls falling for Kurt after seeing how sweetly he interacted with them. The couple later welcomed a son, Wyatt Russell, in 1986. Though not legally married, they held a small ceremony and exchanged a symbolic ring.
Despite differing views and personalities, their shared devotion to family has kept them grounded. They now have eight grandchildren and go by “Gogo” and “Gogi.”
Reflecting on their life together, Goldie says it’s not a marriage certificate that defines love, but the commitment and joy shared in everyday moments. As she puts it, “We’ve done perfectly without marrying.”
