KISS Icon Ace Frehley Dies at 74
Legendary KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has died at 74, following a brain hemorrhage. He passed on October 16 after being placed on a ventilator.
His family shared, “We are devastated. In his final moments, he was surrounded by love. We will forever cherish his laughter, kindness, and the incredible legacy he leaves behind.”
Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons paid tribute, calling Frehley “an irreplaceable rock soldier” and a vital part of KISS history.
Known as “Space Ace,” Frehley helped define KISS’s sound and image with his explosive guitar work and larger-than-life stage presence. He joined the band in 1972, rising to fame with hits like Rock and Roll All Nite and Detroit Rock City. His 1978 solo hit New York Groove remains a fan favorite.
After leaving KISS in the ’80s, Frehley found solo success with Frehley’s Comet, later reuniting with KISS in 1996. In 2014, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and released his final album, 10,000 Volts, in 2024.
Born in the Bronx, Frehley is survived by his wife Jeanette, daughter Monique, and extended family.
