French actress Brigitte Bardot, 91, has been recovering for nearly three weeks at a private hospital in Toulon after surgery for a “serious illness,” according to Var-Matin on Oct. 17. Her condition remains “worrying,” though she’s expected to return home to St. Tropez soon.
This follows a 2023 incident when emergency services were called to her home due to breathing issues during a heatwave. Her husband said she received oxygen but did not lose consciousness, noting she struggles with high temperatures.
Born in 1934, Bardot rose to fame in the 1950s with And God Created Woman, becoming a global icon of liberated femininity. She starred in over 40 films, including Contempt (1963) and Viva Maria! (1965), before retiring in 1973 to focus on animal rights, founding the Brigitte Bardot Foundation in 1986.
She has one son and now lives quietly in St. Tropez.
