Donald Trump has just openly suggested that there are methods by which he could serve for a third term in the White House.
This is despite the fact that the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution states: ‘No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice’
His former adviser Steve Bannon mentioned how Trump would be President in 2028, adding how there are many different alternatives being explored at the moment to get the term limit rules.
One of those scenarios floated is that Trump could run as a vice presidential candidate, his running mate wins, and then resigns, allowing Trump to succeed to the presidency. However, legal scholars claim such a scheme is most likely unconstitutional. Some quoted the 12th Amendment as mentioning that it prevents someone ineligible for the presidency from being vice president.
Another expert shared how this was an implausible loophole argument. In short, the idea of a third Trump term is being discussed in public, and Democrats are having a complete meltdown over it.
Some feel that this strategy is unfair for those who go out and vote, only to get a result that they never imagined. Trump himself did share that it was very possible, but he would never do that with his good pal, JD Vance.
