It hasn’t been long since Richard Gere, 70, became a dad again. In February, he and his wife, 35-year-old Alejandra Silva, welcomed a baby boy—their first child together. Both, however, have children from previous relationships. Gere shares his 20-year-old son, Homer James Jigme, with ex-wife Carey Lowell.
Richard Gere rose to fame as a Hollywood heartthrob through films like American Gigolo, Pretty Woman, and An Officer and a Gentleman. He first married model Cindy Crawford in 1991 after a whirlwind romance, but they divorced four years later, with Crawford citing their 17-year age gap as a challenge.
Seven years later, Gere married model and actress Carey Lowell. In 2000, they welcomed Homer, named after their fathers, with the Tibetan middle name Jigme—reflecting Gere’s advocacy for Tibet. Gere said fatherhood shifted his priorities: “The marginal stuff just doesn’t affect you anymore when you weigh it against the real things in life.”
Homer grew up in the public eye but prefers a private life today. He has a half-sister, Hannah Dunne, from his mother’s previous marriage and a younger half-brother from his father’s marriage to Silva. Though he avoids the spotlight, Homer has occasionally appeared alongside his father, including at Italy’s Giffoni Film Festival.
From the looks of it, Richard Gere has passed on both his charm and good looks to his son.
