Princess Diana’s sister hospitalized after horse-riding accident

Lady Sarah McCorquodale, 70, Princess Diana’s eldest sister, has been hospitalized with serious injuries following a horse-riding accident last month, confirmed by her brother, Earl Spencer, on the podcast Rosebud with Gyles Brandreth.

Spencer described her recovery as challenging, noting that medical staff found her a “demanding patient.” He shared that the lead doctor diplomatically hinted to her husband, Neil McCorquodale, that it might be time to bring her home.

Known for her resilience, Lady Sarah once briefly dated Prince Charles and later introduced him to Diana, paving the way for one of the 20th century’s most famous royal marriages. She remains close to the royal family as the maternal aunt of Prince William and Prince Harry and leads a relatively private life with her husband while staying active in aristocratic circles.

Earl Spencer also reflected on the ongoing public fascination with Diana, recalling awkward encounters with strangers recounting where they were when she died. He continues to honor Diana’s memory, visiting her burial site at Althorp estate annually with his children.

Despite the accident, Lady Sarah remains an adventurous spirit, still riding horses in her 70s. Our thoughts are with her for a full and speedy recovery.
