Parents Warned Again About Vaping After Teen Coughs Up Blood
A 17-year-old boy, Jayden Richardson, was left terrified after coughing up “pints” of blood during a 2024 family vacation in Turkey.
Initially, doctors suspected a stomach ulcer caused by greasy food and drinks, but an endoscopy revealed severe lung damage linked to his vaping habit.
Jayden began vaping at age 12 to fit in, finishing a 10ml bottle of vape juice every two to three days — roughly equal to 50 cigarettes daily.
“I was terrified,” he said. “I never thought vaping could cause all this.” His mother, Elita, has since urged parents on Facebook to take vaping seriously.
Health experts share her concern. The World Health Organization warns that vaping is fueling a “new wave” of nicotine addiction among youth, with over 15 million children worldwide using e-cigarettes — and kids being nine times more likely to vape than adults.
