A father, Shivy Brooks, continues to live with the immeasurable pain of losing his 16-year-old son, Bryce — a teen he proudly calls a hero.
In 2023, while vacationing in Florida, Bryce saw four young children being pulled by a dangerous rip current. Without hesitation, he jumped in to save them. Even while struggling himself, he was calling for help — not for him, but for the children he was protecting.
Bryce was pulled under and later died from cardiac arrest. A close family friend, “Uncle Chuck,” also lost his life trying to save him.
Shivy says, “Bryce gave his life so others could live. We’re so proud of our baby boy.”
In his honor, the family created the Bryce Brooks Foundation, offering free swimming lessons and scholarships to prevent future tragedies.
Shivy still shares emotional tributes: “I just want to hug my son. I just want him to come home. Bryce was always my hero.”
