Two Florida boys, just 12 and 13, are facing serious charges after their own mothers turned them in for causing more than $50,000 in damage to their school library.
Deputies say the boys broke into Friendship Elementary in Deltona, vandalizing the media center—throwing books, smashing furniture, graffitiing doors, and later returning to cause even more damage, triggering a fire alarm. Officers arrived to find the library completely destroyed.
After surveillance images were posted online, multiple tips came in, but it was the boys’ mothers who recognized them and contacted police. Both confessed.
They now face charges including burglary, trespassing, criminal mischief, and theft, with possible serious legal consequences.
Online reaction was strong, with many praising the moms for doing the right thing and teaching their children accountability—some even suggesting the boys should clean up the mess they caused as part of their punishment.
