Barack and Michelle Obama were scheduled to see Rob and Michele Reiner the day the couple were found dead, Michelle revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The Obamas had been longtime friends with the Reiners.
Rob Reiner, a celebrated filmmaker, and his wife Michele, a photographer and producer, were found dead in their Brentwood home on Sunday, both with knife wounds. Their son, 32-year-old Nick Reiner, has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder; he may face the death penalty and is being held without bail.
In response, Michelle Obama condemned Donald Trump’s remarks calling Rob “deranged,” saying the couple cared deeply about family, fairness, and their country. Barack Obama also posted on X, praising Rob’s storytelling and the couple’s purposeful lives.
Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman called their deaths “beyond tragic” and vowed to seek justice for the Reiners.
