Dad celebrates teen who took his autistic son to prom

Posted on December 18, 2025 By admin

Sometimes, ordinary people do extraordinary things that restore our faith in humanity. This viral Facebook post tells the story of a father whose autistic son, Jon, was invited to prom in the most beautiful way.

Jon’s dad, Mike Larson, shared how a senior named Maddi came to his office to ask permission to take Jon, a junior with autism, to prom. She believed he deserved the same experience as any other student. Maddi even chose an orange dress—Jon’s favorite color—and planned the night around his favorite foods.

The post, shared millions of times, was meant to support special-needs kids, celebrate inclusive friendships, and remind people of kindness. Years later, Jon is happy and well, and Maddi—now married—remains humble about the attention.

What Mike once feared would never happen for his son became one of his family’s most cherished memories, thanks to one simple act of compassion.
