Supermodel Diagnosed With Cancer And Decided Not To Do Chemotherapy

Posted on February 15, 2026 By admin

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, many assume chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery is next—but that isn’t always the case.

Seven years ago, supermodel Elle Macpherson was diagnosed with HER2-positive estrogen receptor intraductal carcinoma. Her doctor recommended chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy, a mastectomy, and reconstruction, but she ultimately chose a holistic approach instead.

Macpherson shared her journey in The Australian Women’s Weekly and her book Elle, in a chapter titled “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.” She described her diagnosis as shocking and daunting, and emphasized the importance of finding a solution that resonated with her personally. She met with 32 doctors before making her choice, focusing on both emotional and physical healing.

Her sons and ex-partner supported her, though not always agreeing with her methods. Macpherson spent eight months in Phoenix, Arizona, dedicating herself fully to her health under medical supervision.

Today, she reports being in “utter wellness,” clinically in remission, and thriving without having followed the standard treatments she was advised.
