Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, according to the BBC. Police arrived at his Sandringham residence, Wood Farm, around 8 a.m. on Thursday—his 66th birthday.
At least six unmarked cars carrying plainclothes officers were seen entering the property. Thames Valley Police confirmed the arrest and said searches are also being carried out at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.
Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright stated that an investigation has been formally opened and emphasized the need to protect its integrity due to high public interest.
Andrew, who has faced longstanding allegations related to his links with Jeffrey Epstein—claims he denies—had recently moved to Wood Farm after leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor. This marks the first time he has been arrested.
