Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria star Eric Dane has died at 53, about a year after being diagnosed with ALS. His family confirmed he passed away on Thursday, February 19, following a courageous battle with the disease, surrounded by his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and their two daughters, Billie and Georgia.
Dane rose to fame as Dr. Mark Sloan (“McSteamy”) on Grey’s Anatomy, becoming a fan favorite after joining the show in 2006. He later gained new audiences through Euphoria. After revealing his ALS diagnosis last year, he became an advocate for awareness and research, openly sharing his early symptoms and calling the disease “nasty.”
Born in San Francisco in 1972, Dane moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting and built a successful television and film career. He is survived by his wife and daughters.
