Losing a child is one of the greatest tragedies a parent can face. Actor Sylvester Stallone experienced this heartbreaking loss when his first son, Sage Stallone, died suddenly in 2012 at just 36 years old.
Before the cause of death was known, many rumors circulated about drugs, alcohol, or suicide. However, investigations later revealed that Sage died from Atherosclerosis, a hardening of the arteries that caused a heart attack. Toxicology reports found only small traces of prescribed pain medication, not an overdose.
Two weeks before his death, Sage had undergone dental surgery to remove five teeth—despite his mother, Sasha Czack, urging him not to have multiple teeth removed at once.
Sage, a filmmaker and actor who appeared with his father in Rocky V and Daylight, was remembered as creative, kind, and full of life.
Devastated by the loss, Stallone asked the public to respect his son’s memory and support Sage’s grieving mother, saying no pain is greater than losing a child.
