Boston frontman dead at 60 after devastating battle with brain cancer

Posted on March 10, 2026 By admin

Tommy DeCarlo, former lead singer of the band Boston, has died at age 60 after battling brain cancer. His family confirmed the news on March 9, 2026, saying he fought the illness with “incredible strength and courage.”

DeCarlo was diagnosed in September after suffering a brain bleed. During emergency surgery, doctors discovered melanoma tumors on his brain and a spot on his lungs. Despite treatment and rehabilitation, his condition worsened.

He joined Boston in 2007 after the death of original singer Brad Delp. Before that, DeCarlo was working at Home Depot when band founder Tom Scholz invited him to tour with the group.

Boston is known for classic hits like More Than a Feeling, Peace of Mind, and Amanda, and has been active for more than 50 years.
