Diana, Princess of Wales was famous for visiting hospitals, but one visit in 1995 led to a secret romance with heart surgeon Hasnat Khan at Royal Brompton Hospital in London.
The two began a private relationship, meeting secretly to avoid media attention. Diana even used the alias “Dr. Armani,” wore disguises, and once helped Khan sneak into Kensington Palace in a car trunk. She reportedly called him her “soulmate,” introduced him to Prince William and Prince Harry, and even explored his Muslim faith.
However, intense media pressure and Khan’s desire for privacy ended the relationship in July 1997. Just a month later, Diana died in the Death of Diana, Princess of Wales in Paris with Dodi Fayed.
Khan later attended her funeral at Westminster Abbey and has since continued his work as a heart surgeon in the UK while remembering Diana as a remarkable but very human person.
