Orphaned young and raised on the streets, this young man became a music and TV icon!

Born in Newark, New Jersey, this future star lost both parents at a young age—his mother in elementary school and his father just a few years later—leaving him to grow up on his own by age 12.

He moved between relatives, experienced early hardship, and was exposed to crime, eventually drifting into it himself as a teen and young adult. After becoming a father, he briefly joined the U.S. Army to try to change his path, where he also discovered music.

Following his military service, he pursued DJing but continued to struggle financially, becoming involved in robberies before eventually turning his focus to music.

In the 1980s, he helped pioneer gangsta rap, releasing a groundbreaking debut album in 1987 that carried the first parental advisory label. That success launched his career in music and later acting.

He went on to appear in films like New Jack City and became widely known for his long-running role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Alongside his career, he built a family life with relationships that shaped him over the years, eventually settling into marriage and fatherhood again later in life.

Today, Ice-T is known as a music pioneer, actor, and television icon whose life story reflects a dramatic transformation from hardship to long-term success.
