Sen. Lindsey Graham Dies at 71 After Brief and Sudden Illness
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a longtime Republican leader and close ally of President Donald Trump, has died at age 71, his office confirmed Sunday.
Graham passed away Saturday night after a “brief and sudden illness,” according to a statement from his office, which asked for prayers and privacy for his family.
Graham, who had served in the Senate since 2003, was chairman of the Senate Budget Committee and a major voice on defense and foreign policy. He was also preparing to seek a fifth Senate term.
The senator had recently returned from Kyiv, Ukraine, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Emergency responders were called to his Capitol Hill home Saturday night following a report of cardiac arrest.
