These days, many people meet through dating apps, but not long ago, finding love meant getting out into the real world — even for celebrities.
Take Maureen McCormick, best known as Marcia from The Brady Bunch. She met her future husband, Michael Cummings, at a concert and later connected with him at church.
After The Brady Bunch ended, McCormick faced personal struggles, including addiction, depression, and bulimia, which hurt her acting career. She sought help through rehab, therapy, and faith.
In her memoir, Here’s the Story, she recalled seeing Cummings for the first time and knowing instantly he was “the one.” She began attending the same Bible studies and sitting near him at church. Eventually, they went on a date — and the rest was history.
Despite ongoing challenges with addiction, Cummings stayed by her side. “She was always honest with me,” he said. “Whatever came up, we’d deal with it.”
Their relationship wasn’t easy, but their shared faith helped them endure. Married since 1987 and with one child, they credit their lasting bond to believing their love was strong enough to overcome anything.
